Temppeliaukio Church is committed to act responsibly in the field of sustainability within the travel sector. We have achieved the Church´s environment diploma and have for the past year been committed to achieving the STF (Sustainable Travel Finland) certification. We wish to be transparent regarding environmental issues in everything we do:

Temppeliaukio Church offers a wide range of services in multiple languages. The Church´s digital guide book is available in over 30 language versions and we can on a daily basis offer guided tours in at least five languages. Our homepage is available in Finnish, Swedish and English. The church space is to a large part accessible for everyone. Temppeliaukio Church has in its communication and its operations committed to welcoming everyone who shares an interest in visiting us.

The souvenirs we sell have slowly been updated to favour mainly local or otherwise Finnish craftmanship and materials derived from nature in a sustainable way. We have emphasised the importance of curating a selection of unique and meaningful products.

During the past year, we have moved from paper products towards digital solutions by offering digital ticket solutions and by getting rid off brochures and maps in the paper format. The same information is still to be found for the visitor, but now behind a QR code, with no emissions and waste left behind.

Temppeliaukio Church, both as a church and a building, is an important part of the Finnish cultural heritage. Our everyday mission is to protect and respect Temppeliaukio Church as a culturally, historically and architecturally significant place. Our personnel is trained to bring these values forward in their everyday work and to inform others for instance through the guided tours we offer.

We wish to actively support the well-being of our employees and to offer them a functioning work environment. As employers we offer them regular gatherings and a possibility to share thoughts and ideas. There is space to discuss different experiences and share thoughts on more challenging situations.

We hope to be transparent and genuine with our communication about our part in making the travel industry more sustainable, and that this effort is noticeable to our visitors!
